Much like the wine craze that’s swept over Main Street in the past few decades, a sort of resurgence in the popularity in gourmet coffees is happening. And the usual suspects are at large. The Pacific Northwest, where Seattle’s based, and several very popular international coffee companies are based, is seeing record numbers in terms of attendance in their coffee festivals and other events, which correlates over to a record high interest in these gourmet coffees. And everything included, factored in when we talk about interest here. Everything from the techniques to farming, the politics behind importing and exporting, the coffee brewing machines, the companies behind some of the more popular coffee distributors, everything’s taken up, and in this sense, you really start to get the feeling and the idea that coffee is more than just a beverage at this point, it’s a culture; it’s a way of life that people literally eat and sleep by.
